Thrive: Wellness For the Modern Human

Mastering Stress

Let’s be honest. Between the calendar chaos and the quiet guilt of skipping yet another meditation session, wellness can quickly start to feel like another item on the to-do list. We think it deserves better. That’s why we created Thrive, a speaker series that places comprehension first, so worthwhile action can follow.

Thrive isn’t about overpriced juice cleanses or cold plunges. It’s about understanding ourselves a little better, building sustainable tools, and making space for honest conversations about what it means to be human right now.

We kicked off the series with Mastering Stress, an aspirational title by design. Instead of casting stress as a villain to conquer, the conversation invited attendees to rethink their relationship with it. Stress isn’t always the enemy; sometimes it’s just a very persistent messenger.

Jacquelyn member and clinical psychologist Dr. Marsha Chinichian was joined by Dr. Monila Rahimi, child and adolescent psychiatrist and Medical Director of Sutter’s Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs, and perinatal psychiatrist. Together, they led a conversation that was equal parts insightful, validating, and yet, comforting.

The session explored how stress shows up emotionally, physically, and behaviorally, while challenging one of our most stubborn assumptions: that stress must be eliminated at all costs. As both speakers emphasized, resisting stress often turns up the volume. Understanding it is how you can harness it.

Dr. Rahimi left us with three takeaways: name it to tame it, feel it to heal it, and if we resist, it persists. Simply put, pause throughout the day and ask, “What am I experiencing right now?”

The Thrive Series is just the beginning. More conversations are on the horizon, and trust us, you’ll want to make room for them.
