the inspiration
The Anderson Resident Artist Program was created by the Anderson family as a tribute to Jackie, a devoted photographer who believed deeply in the power of creativity and community. Three times a year, one artist is selected to carry that legacy forward.
art elevates community
Selected artists receive a three-month residency, full compensation for their time, and a solo exhibition at the close of their residency where they keep 100% of sales. Residents are invited to create a new body of work inspired by a curated archive of Jacquelyn Anderson’s photography. Her work is the starting point. Where they take it is entirely theirs.
The residency is designed to do two things at once: support artists with the time, space, and resources to create without compromise, and bring that creative process into the life of our community. When artists work among us, something shifts. The way we see. The way we think. The way we approach our own work.

how artists apply
The Anderson Resident Artist Program is open to artists working in any medium. We are looking for artists who are curious, community-minded, and ready to let Jacquelyn’s archive take them somewhere unexpected.
Applications typically open in September for the following calendar year.

Jackie was an artist, and her studio told the whole story. Drawers filled with pencils, paints, brushes, and cameras that grew more sophisticated as her craft did. Stacks of notebooks. Books she made and printed documenting her travels with Jim, each one marking a shift from family documentarian to true explorer. Her portfolio was catalogued and has become the inspiration for the Anderson Resident Artist Program.
