The Anderson Resident Artist Program – Davy Fiveash

Art Doesn’t Just Decorate A Room. It Changes One.

Our Quarter 1 Anderson Resident Artist is Davy Fiveash, whose bold, distinctive blend of drawing, painting, and fabric art felt especially aligned with the spirit of this residency. His work moves with a visual language that is entirely his own. It felt like a natural fit.

Davy is developing a new collection that brings together his artistic voice with Jackie’s affinity for the natural world and sweeping landscapes. The work in progress is already something worth watching.

He is currently a resident studio artist at Archival Gallery and lives in Sacramento. Originally from southern Georgia, Davy earned his MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and has studied at the University of Northumbria in Newcastle, England, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.

His academic path spans continents and disciplines, and that breadth shows in the work. Layered materials and expressive mark-making come together in a way that feels both playful and deeply personal. The kind of art that rewards a second look.

“I’m very excited to have been chosen for this residency. It feels like more than a residency. It feels like patronage,” Fiveash said. “I’m excited to share my work with a new audience and to have the opportunity to see new things and experience new places. I’ve definitely stepped outside my comfort zone, and I’m eager to see where that leads.”

We are eager too.

The Anderson Resident Artist Program is one of the clearest reflections of what The Jacquelyn values and stands for: art and creativity have the power to transform the world around us, but only when those who create have the resources to produce at their best.

Each year, four artists receive a three-month residency, full compensation for their time, and an end-of-residency exhibit where they keep 100% of sales.

The program honors our namesake, Jacquelyn Anderson and her deep belief in the power of art, drawing inspiration from her remarkable portfolio of photography and her commitment to supporting working artists.
