We are What we Eat

There’s a reason Greek weddings are big and fat (in all the right ways). Five out of five medical experts agree the Mediterranean diet is great for you! The prestigious Mayo Clinic explains, “Today, the Mediterranean diet is one of the healthy eating plans that American nutrition experts recommend. It’s also recognized by the World Health Organization as a healthy eating pattern.”

That’s why the menu at the Jacquelyn is centered around fresh Mediterranean plates, designed to be paired with one of our organic wines or your favorite fruit-forward cocktail or mocktail.

Research has shown an array of benefits from the Mediterranean diet, including cardiovascular health, regulating blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol, regulating body weight, promoting gut health, reducing the risk of certain cancers, and promoting brain function and mental health.

As UC Davis Health experts explain, the Mediterranean diet is not just good for your heart but also your mind. “To improve your mental health,” they recommend, “eat like a Greek: increase your intake of fruit, vegetables, and seafood, opt for whole grains over processed grains, and incorporate healthy fats into your diet in the form of olive oil, nuts, and fatty fish.”

There’s no better place to start than at the Jacquelyn. Pull up a chair at the Cellar and eat to your heart’s content…literally.
